The exhibition Meeting Point, is the result of a program carried out between the students of the workshops of Centro Norte Fuencarral and seven designers of TetuanCrea during the school year 24_25.
On the one hand, the Norte Joven Association works for the training of socially disadvantaged young people for their social and labor integration, developing a training based on trades.
On the other hand, TetuanCrea, is a collective formed by 30 studios in the district of Tetuán, a neighborhood in the northwest of Madrid, which seeks to make visible the work of the creative community of the district and to be a transforming agent with an active presence in the cultural policies of the city.
Based on the methodology of Design thinking, the concept of meeting point has been used to find the connection between all the disciplines taught in the classrooms of Norte Joven: carpentry, plumbing, electricity, kitchen, room service and commercial services, co-creating an ephemeral restaurant that has been officially presented during February 18 and 19, 2024 at the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, within the framework of Fiesta Design during Madrid Design Festival 25 and that has continued its tour in the Nébula room from February 20 to March 9.

Trying to find a connection, not only among all the workshops but among all the students, we found that the “art of the table” was what we all had in common, where the element of the action of eating, in this case with the hand and around a series of objects united us, and did not separate us.

We worked in each of the workshops using the design thinking methodology to co-create each of the objects to be created.
In carpentry, eight tables were made: four central tables, one for the kitchen, two others for the bar function and another one for the prototypes.
In electricity, five floor lighting fixtures were made.
In plumbing, four centerpieces were made.
In the kitchen, a menu was created where eating by hand, color and diversity converge.
In commercial services, the graphic identity, poster and menu support were created.
In room services, an experience was created around the exhibition and the room where the tray that incorporated each of the tables was the meeting point.

This program seeks to generate opportunities and give value to the trades, which are the basis of the training of these young people.
It also seeks to generate real job opportunities for young people and their incorporation into the design industry.
And on the other hand, to train people specialized in trades but with this training in design thinking and creativity so that they can be a real source of work for designers, making products or prototypes.
